exercise more? How about we start a thread here to encourage each other? I am starting simple with just a plan to walk Paisley 30 minutes every morning and then stretch for 10-15 minutes after. I just did it. Anyone else want to commit to move more?

I could sure use it. It is so hard to motivate myself and do it alone. My DH is thin as a rail, as I was until surgeries and I quit smoking. Now, it is terrible, lol. How do you want to do this?

I was just thinking about this the other day. Well, unfortunately I think about it to much. With health issues sometimes it is so hard to do but I need to do it more. I was doing great when I was in Physical Therapy. My dog gets to gout several times a day but with me using a walker and he will be 12 years old this weekend we take several short walks a day. But I am so grateful for him as he keeps me going. Yep he is my therapy/companion dog.

I am just going to continue to post daily on this thread and try to motivate myself and anyone else who wants to commit to it. Like I said, I will start slow making myself do a 30-minute walk and 10-15 minute stretching each day. Hopefully, I can work in some Wii Fit, too.

I'm in! I was doing 20-30 minutes of Wii Fit on Mon, Wed, and Fridays. Then the last few months I just couldn't make it work in my schedule. I was sick. I took on a third job. I was asked to volunteer at the school during my workout time. You get the idea. Need to get back on track. I do a combo of stretches/yoga/and a few cardio things. Let's do this!

well Laura you are way too young to worry about this yet, but it is recommended for senior citizens and us old(er) folks to walk at least 10,000 steps a day. I don't know how many miles that is but I have several friends in their 60's and 70's who wear a pedometer all day every day to keep track of their steps. phew not me though. Waaaaaay to lazy. However professionals extoll the virtues of walking for health in general so go for it.

I cannot remember what it is called but it is a bracelet that also track when you are asleep etc. and how often you wake up etc. She got It for mothers day. They got it from Best Buy. I would love to get one but iknow they are about $100. It can sync with your computer etc. I too would like to do this Laura.

Sure, I ride my bike and have a gazelle machine, it's like a skiing. I got lazy when I did a few home improvements last month and my son's grad party preparations. I'm in!!

Every time I change jobs, I move around less. Right now I have the same job, but my office is being renovated and I've been temporarily relocated -- my steps (I have a Fitbit One) have gone from around 4000-6000 steps a day to 3000-4000! (The shorter walk in and out is nice, but I'm also closer to the bathrooms and my co-workers here.) Our health coaches recommend 10,000 steps a day for everybody, and I'm not even close. I keep saying that I need to move around more, but haven't committed to anything.
With all that said, I'm in! I've changed my wake up time so that I can use the elliptical for a few minutes each morning and I've used it exactly one time this week. I'm not planning to use it at all next week (I'm off work the whole week and do not plan to wake up that early) but I'll join in the week after.

DH and I have been moving more and eating healthy for the last 4 months. I've lost 25 lbs. and he's lost 35 lbs. YAY! I usually walk outside an hour, Wii Just Dance for an hour, some light weights and exercises each day. Also last week we got back to riding bikes and added that in 3 times for 1-2 hrs. each.

Also, thought I'd mention we keep track of our calories, exercise, etc. by using My Fitness Pal. It really keeps us on track!

I keep telling myself as soon as my job becomes less stressful I will start walking again. Since a co-worked is going out on medical leave for 8 weeks starting tomorrow and I need to back her up, I guess my stress level isn't going to lessen anytime soon!
