Story of the Two Princesses of Cherry Land
Once upon a time there were two princesses that lived in a faraway land – Cherry Land. One princess – Princess Maraschino– was very dutiful to the laws of Cherry Land, and heeded all warnings given by her subjects and court. The other Princess, Princess SourCherry wasn’t evil, but more spiteful, and always did things a bit unconventional.

The Memorial festivities went well in Cherryland; all the fallen soldiers from centuries ago have been honored, as it’s been a very long time since there was any uprising in the perfect land of Cherryland. Graduation for Princess Sour Cherry is in a few weeks, and in honor of her graduation and also extend the respect for Memorial Day, the king decided he was going to commission a new flag. While he knew with Princess Sour Cherry being his eldest he should ask her for her input, but was fearful of what she’d choose being the wild child as well as his senior daughter. So he decided to put it out to both girls. They were told to decide what the flag should look like for Cherryland, since the old one is simply red and the date of their independence.
So Princess Maraschino went first, and chose to stay with the same colors, red and white. She said she thought that perhaps a few stripes in honor of the kings since the independence of Cherryland would be appropriate, and much like the US Flag, she chose Cherries in the upper left corner. She said she was happy to give her input, and thanked her father.
And along comes Princess Sour Cherry with her choice. She told her father she wanted a more fuschia color – to cover all the cherries, and liked black in lieu of the white that was on the present flag, as it looked stained most of the time. The king scratched his head, and said “It does sound interesting, but how do you propose we incorporate the black?” She said with fringe. It’s the sign of a banner – and not just a flag. He was quite surprised with that answer. And she said “Just the cherries original symbol in the middle will do.”
Now if you, my Cherry friends, stop to think about this – what do we have? The older version of the red and white pens from ACOT, and the new pens!!! The fuchsia and black!! So which are you – traditional and Princess Maraschino and red/white – and oh yes, you need to add “stripes” somewhere on the page or Princess Sour Cherry with the fuchsia/black/and fringe? If you choose Maraschino – you need to use photos at least ten years old. If you choose Sour Cherry – you need to use photos less than ten years old.
AND. . . . if you toss a cherry anywhere on your page – photo, little embellishment, anything at all – then your name goes in twice. And yes you may do both Princesses, as well.
Winner will receive a $5 gift card to ACOT, UNLESS the winner has done both Princesses and included a cherry on both layouts she does, not just the winning layout. THEN you win $10. I mean, if you put that much effort into it – then you need to be rewarded by the Royal family!! Deadline is June 30th and the winner will be chosen on July 1. You may combine with another challenge that allows it. Good luck!!
