my doctor made me come in for a "well" check yesterday before writing the renewal on my blood pressure meds. Inconvenient but ok BUT then he said I needed a whooping cough shot! Especially at MY AGE, it was important to have it and there is a mild epidemic of whooping cough in our area this year. So I said dangit OK. Went to the drugstore where we get a lot of our "special" inoculations like Shingles and whooping cough eitehr free or much less expensive by prescription. Shot was a piece of cake but he said that my arm would be pretty sore today. HE WASN'T KIDDING. Just stretching my arm out to reach for something hurts like heck. Good thing I am not doing yard work today. It would kill me. ugh So again I say to you, "Getting Old Is Not For Sissies".

I need to get a shingles shot. I know 3 people who got shingles and it is not fun. I keep forgetting, maybe I should see if CVS has it.

I had the chicken pox so I know I'm a candidate.

Yikes! Sorry about the pain! At least your arm won't be coughing and hacking, though. You can get shingles IN YOUR EYE?!?! That sounds terrible!

Oh dear, sorry you are so sore but I surely wouldn't want anyone getting whooping cough. I've not really thought about it but do know I need to get the shingles shot too. I've heard how bad that can be. Hope that arm feels better quickly.

Yes our Walgreens does both of the shots for the 2 things mentioned. I had chicken pox so I really should get one too. Sorry your arm is so sore!

I got my Zostavax shot a few years ago and my Pneumovaz vaccine about a month ago but haven't gotten the the Whooping Cough vaccine yet (isn't it also for Tetanus and Diphtheria too). However my 97 year old mom (I'm NOT saying you are that old.....LOL)got one a few weeks ago and she had reactions to it. She is much better now. I hope you feel better soon!!

My DH and I both had the shingles shot back a year ago and it was no problem. And again if done in dr.'s office, health insurance demanded 200.00 co pay each but our clever dr. wrote a prescription for that one too and it was FREE given at the drugstore by the pharmacist. This whooping cough shot would cost co-pay of 75.00 at dr.'s office and only cost co-pay of 20.00 at the pharmacy. and yeah not quite 97 yet. lol LADIES young or old(er), get those shots. Trust me it is better to be safe than sorry.

My cousin got them several years ago in her head and spine... messed up her brain and back to a point that she's just a wee bit off and can't even work anymore. She was in her 30s.
